At the beginning of 2012, the C.ex Group created an inspired new program which strives to support our local community.

Community Relations Officer Lauren Beverly-Jones has implemented and brought the C.ex Group Community Engagement Program to life. For over 60 years, C.ex Coffs has been assisting the local community through a myriad of sponsorship and in-kind donations and now with its Community Engagement Program, has an opportunity to really impact and benefit the community with a truly hands-on approach.

The program focuses on providing volunteer assistance to community based causes and enables C.ex Group employees to be part of an amazing opportunity to make a real difference in their community.

The C.ex Group Community Engagement Program is creating exciting new possibilities for charity based organisations to gain real assistance and manpower when it is most needed. Staff who participate in the C.ex Group Volunteer Program become part of the ‘C.ex Community Crew’. This enthusiastic team has already been out and about in the community, assisting at numerous events and assisting with fundraising for local and national organisations.

All members of the C.ex Community Crew are committed C.ex Group employees from its three clubs (C.ex Coffs, Urunga and Woolgoolga) who are kindly donating their time to this inspiring initiative. Since the launch of the volunteer program, over 65 C.ex Group employees have participated and donated over 450 hours of their time in the community through an array of activities and event participation.

While the team is committed to supporting national charities and organisations, the real drive of the program is to support local beneficiaries. Partnerships with Coffs Harbour Red Cross, Coffs Harbour Men’s  Shed, RSPCA, Relay for Life, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea and the Red Cross Blood Service (to name a few) have been developed in the past five months. Community Relations Officer Lauren Beverly-Jones said, “Our motto for the C.ex Community Crew is to engage, effect, and exceed, and it’s the motto that is always front of mind when we are out in the community lending a hand. We strive to engage our community, effect positive change and exceed expectations when we’re dealing with the public.”

She continued, “The C.ex Group has been a part of the cultural fabric of our region for so many decades, and we see it as our duty to dedicate ourselves to serve our community where possible.”

The biggest and most exciting opportunity that is available to staff at the C.ex Group is the Annual Kokoda Trek. Two employees are selected to go to Papua New Guinea to conquer the Kokoda Trail, and this year the lucky winners are Doris Cowan and Graeme McIntosh. Both will take part in this once in a lifetime experience, tackling the gruelling trek, which is over 96 km long. True to C.ex Community Crew form, the trekkers are using this amazing adventure to fundraise for a very worthwhile local organisation. This year Doris and Graeme are accepting one off donations or per km donations at any of our clubs, (C.ex Coffs, C.ex Woolgoolga, or C.ex Urunga), with all funds donated to the Coffs Harbour War Widows Guild. Please stay tuned for more details and great pictures of their adventure and for the fundraising tally when they return!

Keep an eye out for the C.ex Community Crew when they are out and about in their super bright, lime green polos, and come and say hi! They are proud to be part of our beautiful, diverse and progressive community, and the C.ex Community Crew are here to stay.

Check out the C.ex group Xcite Magazine, which is released every two months for all the details on their upcoming events and activities.
