Cath Fowler from BWN is excited to announce the guest speaker for June. Here is what she has to say.

There have been lots of exciting things happening lately with the Business Women’s Network. After a successful evening for our April event, we’ve just finalised all the details for our next major get together coming up in June. We can’t wait to see you there.

If you are working in a small to large corporate or not for profit here on the Coffs Coast, run your own business, or are a freelancer, you’ll be made to feel welcome in our friendly networking environment. There is no membership fee to join BWN; simply purchase a ticket to one of our events, and you’ll instantly become a member.

BWN June event

Last year our lunch event at the Osprey Restaurant out at the Education Campus was a huge hit. So, we’ve taken on board your great feedback about the venue and the amazing food and decided we’ll return here for our next BWN event on Thursday 13th June at 12pm.

We’re delighted to let you know that on top of an amazing meal, you’ll hear from Carol Malcolm, who will be speaking to us all about Defining your Personal Values.

This talk builds nicely on our last get together discussion regarding the power of building great connections, where we discussed with Joanne Vines from One Agency Coffs Harbour and Sam Dawson from Married by Sam and FOCUS about how building strong relationships has helped their business success. And, they gave you ideas for how you could grow your network.

So expanding on this, when you are building new partnerships, you want to ensure you do so with people who share similar values to you; but, if you haven’t taken the time to sit down and really define what these are, it can make it hard.

Carol is the owner of Workplace Success. Her vision is to make recruiting the right people, bringing out the best in them and developing a positive values-based culture achievable for every organisation. Whether you are a large corporate or a small business owner, you’ll find something of value (pun intended) with this talk. Even for solo businesses who might not be recruiting staff members, you are still making decisions around what service providers or clients to partner with.

Carol has worked as an executive for a number of large organisations and has over ten years’ experience in senior management roles, working with and through Board and Management Committee systems and has served on a number of not for profit management committees. For the past fourteen years, Carol has been self-employed, working as a strategic human resource management consultant on the Mid North Coast of NSW. So, we are so lucky to have her share her extensive knowledge at our next event.

The maximum capacity for the venue is 80 – you’ll want to get your tickets early.

Introducing our new skills workshops

Since we’ve moved to a bi-monthly option for our large networking events, we’ve decided to introduce some intimate, targeted workshops in the months in between our larger catch ups.

We have heard your feedback that you want different opportunities to learn new skills, in different settings, so in May we are partnering with Aaron from Supercheap Auto Coffs Harbour.

He is inviting us to attend a “Check It” workshop at his shop, where he will empower us to complete simple vehicle checks, to ensure our safety on the road.

If you have always wanted to know how to check and change your wipers, fluid, oil and check tyre pressures, then this could be for you (or your teenager who is just learning to drive).

Get in quick, as there are only 12 spots available! Tickets are just $10, with 100% of that being donated to Warrina Women’s Refuge.

For both events, check out the BWN Facebook page for more details and to secure your tickets.
