The Creative Toy Shop has recently opened the door to their new showroom in Industrial Drive. The store’s main focus is play based learning for all abilities, offering a wide range of toys for learning and developing skills. FOCUS had a chat with owner Brianna Hindmarsh, to find out more …

What is your connection to the Coffs Coast?

I moved to the Coffs Coast as a child and have grown up here. I don’t think I want to ever live anywhere else. It is such a beautiful place to live and work.

When and why did you start your business?

It just happened by accident, really. I never saw myself in business, but now love it and couldn’t imagine doing anything different. I was at uni and working full-time as an in home educator and sharing what we did on Instagram. I soon realised there were no stores that ordered quality wooden toys and educational products that offered different approaches to learning.

I launched in September 2016 with the thought of having a hobby and sending a few orders a week. Within the first few weeks it took off, and now we send hundreds of parcels a week across Australia.

Can you tell us a little bit about your background and experience in this industry?

I am a qualified teacher and have worked for six years as a teacher/nanny to four boys. I have home-schooled the eldest of the tribe for four years. He has Down syndrome, and I was finding it difficult to source the toys and games I wanted to use for school. That is a big part of why the shop began and why we are so focused on creative education.

Since opening the doors of your brand new showroom, what are some of the things you have changed and improved?

We have found we have had to add lots more shelving, so we can display enough of our range.

With the opening of your new showroom, how will this help to improve the way people can learn about your services and products?

We have loved being able to chat with people, hear about their little ones and suggest products that will help develop skills. Having the time to go through different products and make recommendations has been so beneficial.

What is the best advice you can give to a prospective customer?

Pop into our showroom; we are happy to chat about your child’s needs and what products will be best for different ages.

Do you offer solutions for budgets of different sizes?

Absolutely; we have a range of products to suit all budgets.

We carry a wide range of brands, and each have different price points. You will find lots of small items that make great stocking stuffers, as well as bigger gift items.

What are your plans for the future of The Creative Toy Shop?

We have big plans for next year; there will be lots of new things arriving at our store and some exciting announcements coming soon.

Where can we find out more?

We can be found on Facebook and Instagram.

Our website also has our full product range available: www.thecreativetoyshop.com.au

Thanks Brianna.
